Artist Adam Yekutieli (KNOW HOPE), whose practice reflects on the dynamics of cross-cultural encounters, was the natural choice when we curated this wall at the Pais Community Centre in Ma’alot-Tarshiha, a mixed city shaped by the daily lives of two communities – Palestinian and Jewish – living side by side.

Against the unguent and serene blue, birds bind outstretched arms with the stems of flowers. The birds — a frequent motif in Yekutieli’s work — symbolize hope, peace, and the need for social and cultural cooperation, recognition, and mutual understanding, as he believes that only through these things a truly just future can be born.

The birds hold a cyclamen and an anemone: flowers that embody the stories of the groups living in this shared space. The cyclamen signals resilience, durability and a connection to the earth, while the anemone represents renewal, vitality and beauty.
